    Reading a Heat Sheet

Heat Sheets for our Virtual Meets should be emailed to parents by 5PM on Friday.  You can print one to bring to the meet, or use the Swimtopia App to find your swimmer's events, heat and lane.  It does help to go through and highlight your swimmers, especially if you have more than one swimmer to keep track of.

Here is an example of a heat sheet from a High School meet.

The event number is found in bold next to the name of the event.  For Doug Nussbaum, swimming the Boys 100 Freestyle, it would be Event #14. The Heat numbers are listed below the event, so Doug was in Heat 3.  The Lane numbers are listed vertically beside the swimmers name, so he was in Lane 5.

    Writing on Arms

To get your swimmer ready for the meet, it helps to write the Event, Heat and Lane on their arms in Sharpie.  It also helps the Bull Pen if you write your swimmer's name on their back - especially for our 8 and under swimmers.

Using the same heat sheet example, here is what Doug's arm would look like for the 100 Freestyle:

Keep listing all their events, heats and lanes (it will fill up little arms).  For relays, it also helps to add which leg they are swimming.
